You’re reading this article on Jamie Irvine’s website.
Jamie Irvine didn’t write it because it is a guest blog.
Yes, Jamie uses guest blogging as one of his marketing strategies. It’s a good strategy too. In this blog post, we’ll explore why.
What is guest blogging?
Guest blogging is simple to define. It’s not rocket science. Basically, guest blogging occurs when a writer, like me, prepares and develops content for another person’s website. That, in this case, is Jamie Irvine. Simple, right? Well, yes, it is. Unfortunately, or fortunately for perceptive marketers like Jamie, is that not a lot of people use guest blogging as an SEO strategy. It’s a shame because it’s so simple and so beneficial.
Why is guest blogging such an important SEO strategy?
Anyone who knows anything about SEO knows that guest blogging is a good thing to do. It helps generate content for your site without you having to do much work. It also provides you with a new audience. Yes, the guest writer usually posts a link to their guest blog on their site and you get new readers. It also provides you with access to a completely new audience. That guest blogger’s audience is now aware of your blog and some of them will begin to follow you too. They will also refer you to their network and yours will grow as if by magic.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, is that Google loves guest blogs. Why? Well, they create backlinks. These are vitally important for adding to your page and domain authority. The more authority you have, the higher up you go in Google Search Engine Results. It’s a tried and true strategy that needs to be employed more often.
How can you start to guest blog or get guest bloggers on your own website?
So, now you’re all excited about guest blogging. You want to start this on your own website. I say go for it. Why not? It seems like you have more to gain than to lose. Basically, all you need to do is to ask people to write related blog posts.
That means they should look at your blog, see what it’s about and pitch ideas to you. If you like those ideas, you give permission to proceed to write an article for you. You also should, as a best practice, allow them to link to their blog or website in their article. It’s only fair and gives you the backlink benefit we talked about in the last section.
Now, before you go ahead and post the blog, you should make sure that the content is good. You don’t want to put subpar content up on your website even if you didn’t write it. Check it for grammar and spelling as well as information provided. It must be relevant to your blog in some way. If it’s not, you can’t use it. Google will actually ding you for posting content that is not well written or related to your blog. They are watching, whether you like it or not.
Guest blogging can be a great way for you to get more content and more backlinks to your website. It’s a smart SEO strategy for a variety of reasons. The blog here at Jamie Irvine’s website utilizes guest blogging to its best advantage. You can learn a lot about guest blogging just by visiting the different content pages of Jamie’s blog.
