An Interesting Interview with a Great Entrepreneur (1:34)

Ryan Williams is a storyteller, marketing/branding strategist, speaker, and author. His podcast and writing have been featured in such major media outlets as Inc., Success, Business Insider, and USA Today. Ryan has keynoted and taught at Google, Vanderbilt University, and USC. Ryan has an innate understanding of the “influencer” space and how to position yourself for success as a thought leader or brand.

Find Your Blueprint (2:24)

Ryan wakes up to screaming children so getting to his office is a big win. Specifically, Ryan collaborates with fellow entrepreneurs who share the same office space.

Remove Your Barriers (5:28)

Ryan has had to overcome the barrier of mental-health, specifically clinical depression. He graduated from college and had to move home to his parents’ home because of his depression. He found comedy, and this helped him to overcome this depression and led him to become a marketer.

Fully Express Your Greatness (11:54)

Ryan toured around the country after he published his book. He targeted early-stage entrepreneurs, but they didn’t have any money. Once Ryan figured out how to collaborate and to use his influence for good he started to be successful. He took his mom to the Broadway show Hamilton and he took his wife out on a quiet night out away from kids.

Advice for Your Younger Self (14:52)

“Don’t fixate on what you are doing so much and instead focus on having a marketing and business plan around the thing you do.”

Teaching Moment (18:58)

Influence comes down to two things:

  1. Collaboration with others
  2. Give value by solving problems

The way to develop influence involves three steps:

  1. Launch your idea
  2. Collaborate with others
  3. Thrive to grow that influence which means creating a win-win transaction between two or more people.

How to Make More Money (25:26)

To use your influence to make more money you must have influence.

This week I encourage you to take the first step of collaborating with someone in your industry. Next, once you contact them I want you to help them with something. It could be as simple as giving them a tip or providing them with a content idea for their social media channel.

Keep doing this with as many industry people as possible and see what it does to your revenue.

Family First (26:02)

Your family is susceptible to being influenced by outside forces that are largely out of your control. Influence can be used for good or bad. As a parent, I think we need to audit who and what is influencing our children.

Try to identify negative influences and eliminate them. Next, it is important to replace those influences with positive ones. Encourage your child to expand their horizons and find new positive things in their lives.

Your children don’t have the life experience that you do so you must be proactive in this. Be an influence for good in your children’s lives every day.
